The Brooks family represents three generations of dairy farmers. In 2006 they decided to discontinue dairy farming and open a feed store on Cedar Lane in Elmer, NJ. The feed store has been serving agricultural and equestrian clients for a decade and continues to grow in size and scope of services.
In 2007 the Cowtown Livestock Auction closed its doors. The Cowtown auction had been the largest livestock auction in the sate of New Jersey, attracting buyers and sellers from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. The Brooks family decided they could fill the void left by the closing of this agricultural institution and with the blessing of the Cowtown owners they did just that. The Cedar Lane Livestock Auction opened in January of 2008 and has been very active ever since.
Today both the feed store and livestock run on a regular basis and serve thousands of clients from the tri-state area. Cedar Lane even runs an annual farm equipment auction where tractors and other farm equipment are auctioned to the highest bidders.
